Welsh Sea Champions come on board
Over sixty people joined MCS staff at two events in Wales to introduce the Sea Champions project to the country.
The pilot project will allow volunteers, who have a love of the sea, to take part in a Wales-wide scheme to help MCS educate people about the issues facing the marine environment and look for long term solutions to ensure the future of our oceans.
Welsh Officer, Gill Bell, and Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Sue Ranger, introduced the scheme to the audiences in Bangor and Haverfordwest.
Sue Ranger said the turnout at both events was really encouraging: "It was great to be welcomed so enthusiastically and to get so many people pitching in with ideas and suggestions. The key to Sea Champions is passionate local people passing their passion on to others."
A number of attendees commented on the MCS Facebook page. Daniel Moore, who went to the event in Bangor said it was inspiring: "It was a lovely organised and inspiring event." Whilst Jo Quinney made it a family day out: "We had a great day, Jack v excited about becoming a 'Sea Champion' start'em young. Thank you, gr8 effort."
