UK Marine Policy Statement published
MCS says it welcomes the first ever UK Marine Policy Statement published today (18th march 2011). MCS has been calling for the statement for nine years.
MCS Senior Policy Officer, Mel Moore, says it's good news, but there are still questions: "We are pleased to see the policy includes the UK’s national and international conservation commitments, however it does not make clear how it will meet both these and the numerous objectives for marine industry growth that could jeopardise them."
