MCS Fundraiser of the Year 2010
Federica Squadrilli-Carr is the MCS Fundraiser of the Year 2010. Federica has been an MCS member since 2006 and among other things has organised beach cleans and sustainable seafood dinners for her colleagues at asset management firm, BlackRock. One of her best fundraisers has been organising Big Blue Days at her offices over the past couple of years, raising an amazing £15,000. Well done Fede!
Fede's top fundraising tips:
Be committed - you need your passion to achieve results!
Don't let bumps along the road get you down - you will hit many obstacles as not everyone will be as committed as you.
Tell people what you are doing - you will be surprised by how much help you can get through friends and colleagues.

The MCS Fundraising Awards
The MCS team really appreciate all the fundraising you do to ensure that our conservation work around the UK coasts can continue. Some of our fundraisers love supporting MCS so much they often organise more than just one event.
MCS wants to recognise our fundraisers for all the hard work they do and so we’ve introduced the Fundraising Awards.
How do I get involved?
We will keep a record of how much you are raising at each event so don’t worry if your first event doesn’t raise as much as you plan, it will all be added together. In return you’ll get a fantastic series of certificates taking you through from being a Bronze fundraiser to Platinum.
-
If you‘ve raised £1,000, which buys 10 underwater surveys to identify areas that need urgent protection, you’ll be a Bronze fundraiser.
-
Raising £5,000 would run a MCS Basking Shark survey off the UK coast for a whole year, making you a Silver fundraiser.
-
£10,000 could allow MCS to influence European fisheries policy for 3 years and you will be a Gold fundraiser.
- You will become a Platinum fundraiser if you’ve collected £15,000 in total! This could help set up 30 MCS local volunteer groups and spread our message even further.
If you would like to be included in the MCS Fundraising Awards, you can sign up by emailing fundraising@mcsuk.org. We can include all fundraising events that have taken place since 2008, so email us your name and when you last fundraised in aid of MCS and we can make sure your hard work is included.

If you would like to discuss the Awards or Fundraiser of the Year, please contact Tori Williams on 01989 566017 or email fundraising@mcsuk.org.
