One of Edinburgh’s finest restaurants donates money to MCS through sales of its side dishes.

Diners at one of Edinburgh’s finest restaurants will be helping to look after UK seas when they order a side of vegetables.

Fishers in the City are supporting the Marine Conservation Society by donating 50p to the charity every time they sell an order of vegetables.

The restaurant is famous for its diverse menu that offers seafood, game & poultry accompanied by an excellent selection of fine wines.

Kylie Jeffrey, manager of Fishers in the City, says they are really dedicated to ensuring the fish they use on their menu is sustainably sourced and on the MCS ‘Fish to eat’ list: “We work closely with our suppliers to find out as much as possible about the origin and catching methods of our produce, and generally we don’t order fish to suit a menu idea – we create dishes based on the availability of seafood according to seasonality, quality and wherever possible responsible sourcing. As part of those efforts we are donating 50% of our takings from the vegetable sales to the Marine Conservation Society.”

A vital part of the work MCS does revolves around ensuring the seas are abundant in fish stocks and they currently produce the Pocket Good Fish Guide and Fish Online to help people make sustainable seafood choices which are vital for securing the future of our seas.

Marianne Steele, Head of Fundraising at MCS, says “We’re delighted by the commitment from Fishers in the City, particularly as they are so well known for their fantastic seafood dishes. Without the generous support of individuals and companies like Fishers in the City, MCS would not be able to continue to take forward its campaigns. We’re currently focusing on the need for Marine Protected Areas which amongst other things would allow fish stock and wildlife to replenish.”

So, don’t miss this chance to support MCS whilst enjoying an exquisite meal at this renowned restaurant. Book your table now at Fishers in the City and remember to order your side of vegetables!
