SeaFrance and MCS celebrate three year partnership

SeaFrance Dover-Calais Ferries have celebrated their third year working in partnership with MCS by clocking up a staggering £546,210 – raised by the company’s generous customers.

Since joining forces with MCS in May 2008 and taking on the role of lead sponsors for the Beachwatch programme, the amazing sum raised has allowed MCS to take their beach cleaning campaign from strength to strength.

MCS has involved over 23,000 volunteers in over 1,700 surveys across almost 800 beaches. We’ve filled 12,217 bags with beach litter, weighing a staggering 48,594kg. So now 56,264 plastic drinks bottles, 93,536 crisp, sweet and lolly wrappers, 6,677 balloons and 49,000 cotton bud sticks are out of harm’s way!

SeaFrance have adopted Kingsdown Beach, close to their Dover offices, and staff and volunteers have cleaned up Kingsdown on a regular basis over the last three years.  On June 8th this year, World Oceans Day, SeaFrance will hold the biggest beachclean yet at Kingsdown.  Local Schools will be involved as will one of Kent’s leading radio stations. Look out for further details about the day closer to the time. Everybody is welcome!

To celebrate their continuing successful partnership with MCS, SeaFrance Dover – Calais Ferries are offering all MCS supporters a 10% discount on their travel rates across the channel.

A huge thank you to SeaFrance for their continued support and dedication to help MCS turn the tide on litter.
