MCS launches new partnership with Isle of Wight Hovertravel company
Customer donations will help to boost charity coffers
MCS is delighted to announce a new partnership with the Isle of Wight travel firm, Hovertravel, as part of the company’s Sea Care campaign.
The partnership was launched on Friday August 24th, to take advantage of the busy Bank Holiday weekend of travel between Hovertravel’s Southsea terminal on the mainland and it’s Ryde terminal on the island.
MCS Corporate Fundraiser, Katherine Sharp, says the charity is delighted to welcome Hovertravel on board: “It’s great news that we’ve been able to join forces with Hovertravel who have an enviable reputation as one of the leading forms of transport between England and the Isle of Wight and an excellent history of supporting marine conservation. We are really looking forward to working with them and will be on hand to offer advice and information to both their staff and customers on all aspects of marine conservation.”
Hovertravel customers will have the opportunity to send a donation to MCS when purchasing tickets online. The optional 30p online donation has already been added to the Hovertravel website (www.hovertravel.com), which means customers are just a click away from boosting the funds of MCS and helping ensure they can continue to work for the conservation of our seas.
Loretta Lale, commercial and marketing manager of Hovertravel, explains: “We timed the launch of this initiative to encourage customers to have a fun and environmentally responsible bank holiday weekend. Here at Hovertravel, we work with the sea every day and have a healthy respect for this environment.”
“Our craft have much less impact on the ocean than conventional boats, as the hovering ability reduces the wake. We also cross the Solent quicker than other ferries, so we use much less fuel. The August bank holiday is always busy at Hovertravel, with so many events happening on both sides of the Solent, so we recommend booking your tickets in advance online. By doing this, our customers can help us raise funds to help the environment while having a great weekend.
