MCS and The Green Insurance Company team up to help preserve our beaches and protect your pets.

Pet lovers can help save the marine environment and keep their animals safe and well at the same time

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) has teamed up with The Green Insurance Company for the launch of it's new pet insurance product.

It’s a really exciting partnership for MCS who have the opportunity to receive a donation from every policy sold.

Customers will be able to choose from a selection of charities, one of which is MCS, for The Green Insurance Company to donate to on their behalf .

Selecting the right project was key and we have chosen our Clean Seas and Beaches project to receive donations from this scheme.

Over the last decade litter on British beaches has got worse affecting marine life at every level - from tiny microscopic organisms through to the very largest animals such as whales and turtles.

Every week, a staggering 150,000,000 plastic shopping bags are used in the UK. During the Marine Conservation Societies Beachwatch in 2007 they found more than 7,500 plastic bags on UK beaches – that’s over 40 bags for every kilometre of beach surveyed. Our Beachwatch events aim to raise awareness and show younger generations first hand how our beaches and local wildlife have suffered.

Founded in 2007, The Green Insurance Company is a Scottish based insurance intermediary with the aim of helping consumers to make greener choices when shopping for their insurance.

The company has gone from strength to strength, with over 50,000 customers UK-wide. They’re now adding a Pet Insurance to their range and is now working to deliver a product that not only helps protect our native wildlife but also keep pets safe and well.

Some of the benefits included are interest free monthly payments, all claims assessed by qualified veterinary nurses and access to a 24hr helpline giving pet owners complete peace of mind.

Gaynor Wood, Head of The Green Insurance Company, said: “Working in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society is a fantastic opportunity and we are thrilled that our pet insurance product will launch in partnership with the Clean Seas and Beaches project. We are very proud to offer a service that helps protect a valuable member of the family and give the opportunity to have a positive and lasting impact on marine habitats throughout the UK.”

“It has always been our mission to make it easier for our customers to ‘go green’ and with our pet insurance product, we give people the chance to help the environment without compromising on the quality or cost of their insurance.

The Marine Conservation Society is working extremely hard to preserve so many wonderful species for future generations and we are delighted to be able to support them.”
