how to help

corporate support

MCS has a strong track record of tailoring innovative and mutually beneficial partnerships with our corporate supporters and companies can make a difference and at the same time help meet business objectives by supporting MCS's work in a variety of powerful ways. By supporting one of the UK's most trusted and respected environmental charities, you will:

  • Demonstrate social and corporate responsibility
  • Promote appropriate products and new initiatives
  • Reach out to communities through popular events
  • Gain access to new audiences
  • Raise awareness of your company and brand
  • Create PR and media opportunities
  • Increase staff morale and motivation

Here are some of the things you could do:andy_dolphins.jpg

1. Become an MCS Corporate Benefactor.

Our projects are making a real difference to the future of our seas, but we could do so much more with your support. Find out how to join our benefactor scheme today!

2. Sponsor a project or campaign.

Working with the Marine Conservation Society can help meet your business objectives with projects linked to key environmental issues including sustainable fisheries, coastal development, tourism, marine litter, pollution, climate change, protecting marine habitats and wildlife. Our projects engage a wide variety of audiences and generate considerable press and media attention.Feb2007_SFanshawe.jpg

If your company would like to sponsor one of our high profile projects or campaigns, please call MCS today on 01989 561587 – we are sure you will enjoy working with and supporting the only UK charity dedicated to caring for our seas, shores and wildlife.

3. Cause-related marketing.

If you think a product or range you are developing could benefit from being associated with MCS let us know! A donation per item sold can really help to differentiate your product and this highly visible form of support will let your customers know that you care about the future of our seas. We are also happy to accept product donations that can be used to raise money for our work or encourage people to join MCS.

4. CC02_Beachwatch_PeterPhillips.jpgAdopt-a-beach.

Adopt-a-beach as a company and take practical action to prevent marine litter from harming and killing marine animals such as whales, dolphins, turtles and seas birds. Businesses across the UK have found it a great way to get their staff, and their families, together - building relationships while actively taking part in vital conservation work - all taking place on the beach too! We request that profit making companies who would like MCS to organise a Beachwatch event and workshop to make a donation towards our work to cover costs. Nowhere in the UK is more than 72 miles away from the sea - email fundraising@mcsuk.org to find out more.

5. Pay-roll giving.

Register the Marine Conservation Society as a charity for your employees to support. We can send you an information pack about our work  to engage your employees in our projects. If you aren’t able to do this, then you can simply encourage your employee’s to join our supporter group or Adopt-a-turtle.

Involving your stakeholders directly, especially staff and customers, is an excellent way of encouraging them to identify strongly with your corporate values. When working with the Marine Conservation Society, this can be achieved in many ways, including getting involved with our fundraising initiatives BIG BLUE DAY or Coastal Challenge.

7. Reduce Reuse Recycle.

All drains lead to the sea, and plastic rubbish can persist in the marine environment for hundreds of years. Let MCS help you raise awareness of the issues surrounding waste and how individual action can make a real difference.

8. Follow our Good Fish Guide.

If your company has a canteen or restaurant please get in touch with us and discuss your fish buying policy. You can be a vital part of the consumer revolution and get clear guidance on choosing sustainable fish from www.fishonline.co.uk. 65% of our fisheries are being fished beyond safe sustainable limits and we need your help to achieve sustainable fisheries before it’s too late. commondolphin_GCresswell.jpg

9. Marine animal champion.

Over half of the UK's wildlife lives beneath the waves – help MCS to protect them all; from dolphins and whales to anemones and pink sea fans. Your company could become the champion of a marine animal by raising awareness of the threats it faces and supporting our work to protect it.
