how to help

coastal challenge events

CoastalChallengelogo.jpgWe'd like to thank all the people who have taken the plunge and are helping us chip away at our Coastal Challenge target! The people listed below are those who have created Justgiving pages, and if you would like a link to your Justgiving page please just email fundraising@mcsuk.org with the details. You can read all about their Coastal Challenge events on the individual Justgiving fundraising pages – or even sponsor them directly from these pages.

But whilst they're clocking up the miles, what we’d really love is for you to take part too!! Just email fundraising@mcsuk.org with your distance pledge and we'll send you a fundraising pack.

Fran Crowe was shocked to read that, according to the United Nations, there are on average 46,000 pieces of plastic litter per every square mile of ocean world-wide, causing the deaths of an estimated 100,000 marine mammals and 1 million seabirds every year. She has set herself a 46,000 challenge…intrigued? Read more at www.justgiving.com/francrowe

Carl Reddin has completed Robin Hood Marathon (September 10th) dressed as a fish! You can see a picture of him at www.justgiving.com/carlreddinfish and we all agree with what one of his friends said – anyone willing to run that far dressed as a fish is worthy of a donation!

Biodiversity Officer Jean-Luc Solandt has cycled up the notorious Mont Ventoux, France, covering 110km! This is a ride which is famous for its gruelling hill climb, and is frequently part of the Tour de France. You can still sponsor him at www.justgiving.com/jean-luc

Our outstanding Lancashire MCS local group put together a 3 peaks team who ran up and down Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon - a task they accomplished in less than 24 hours raising an amazing £1584.15. To support this challenge or for more information, go to www.justgiving.com/mcslancs3peaks. If you are considering organising an event like this please contact MCS for an official advice leaflet.

Coastal-Challenge-Underwate.jpgStaff at The Deep aquarium in Hull made a serious dent in our target by cycling a massive 1,000 km on excersice bikes this World Oceans Day 8th June. You can still sponsor their mammoth challenge, please go to www.justgiving.com/turtletag. They were inspired into action by the plight of marine turtles and have put together a whole series of fundraising events to help MCS (see www.thedeep.co.uk for more information).
