Help MCS protect our seas in our Silver Jubilee year by taking the MCS Coastal Challenge.
By combining the efforts of hundreds of MCS supporters we hope to match the length of the UK's beautiful and varied coastline (18,470 km or 11,477 miles!) whilst raising vital funds for our work to care for our seas, shores and wildlife.
With your help, we can do it!
''The Coastal Challenge is fun, healthy and every step you take will be another step towards the recovery of our seas,'' says BBC presenter and MCS supporter, Kate Humble.

"The sea provides us with food, it's a great playground and it's the biggest nature reserve we have," continues Kate. "But the sea is being exploited - used as a dumping ground for rubbish, fished until stocks are almost exhausted, and the seabed stripped bare. And just like the land, the sea is feeling the effects of global warming."
By taking the Coastal Challenge, you will be helping MCS in our work to protect our seas, and the all wonderful wildlife they contain.
Your first three Coastal Challenge steps:
1.
Choose your Coastal Challenge! You can organise any type of distance-covering activity as a Coastal Challenge (so long as it's safe and legal!). You could register for an organised fun run, or plan something your friends and family can join in on. Inland, on the coast or at sea, every penny and every metre counts!
2.
Get sponsored!
3.
Enjoy your event! Tell MCS the distance you covered and pass on the money you raise.

A big thank you to everyone who has taken the Coastal Challenge!
The range of challenge activities has been amazing, but the most popular so far is the coastal walk, closely followed by cycling and running.
As if running a marathon wasn't enough of a challenge, our supporters have upped the ante by running dressed as fish and crabs! What marine creature would you dress up as?
