SEMPORNA ISLANDS PARK
This document sets out key actions required to develop the Semporna Islands Park, and is part of a series of publications produced under the Semporna Islands Project (1998-2001). The actions are based on recommendations made in the draft Management Plan (January, 2001) and Briefing Notes (May, 2001). The aim of the Action Plan is to assist in the establishment of the Semporna Islands Park and implementation of the Management Plan by providing a checklist and targets for the next five years. It is intended as an outline, working document that can be expanded and amended as time goes on. The Action Plan sets out what is needed to meet the management aims for the Semporna Islands Park. These aims are to:
Sabah Parks will play the lead role in initiating many of the actions outlined in this document, but will be supported by other government departments and organisations that have an interest in the area. The local community and Management Committees will play a key role in the co-operative management of the area.
