MCS and BBC Saving Planet Earth

BBC Saving Planet Earth encourages the public to help wildlife conservation through financial support and action.

The MCS Turtle Track Sri Lanka project featured on BBC1 Saving Planet Earth in 2007. Saira Khan joined MCS Species Policy Officer, Peter Richardson and the Turtle Conservation Project (TCP) in Sri Lanka, attaching satellite transmitters to female green turtles, and finding out how the survival of turtles around the world is under threat.

"I learnt that as soon as the turtle emerges from its nest life becomes a battle for survival," Saira says. "They have to dodge fishermen and their nets, litter, tourists and predators. Being so close to turtles made me realise they are huge and yet so beautiful and gentle. Personally I will support turtle conservation by giving a monthly donation, and I would definitely go back to Sri Lanka with my family".

You can help by donating to MCS, or you can Adopt a Turtle for yourself or a loved one.
