marine protected areas

your seas, your voice

The ‘Your Seas, Your Voice' project will be run by MCS between 2008 and 2011. It will provide you, the general public, with the opportunity to tell us which sites should be protected, for what reason, and from which activity via this simple online questionnaire.

We will gather background physical and biological information on a variety of sites from Seasearch dive data and reports and combine these with the results from the questionnaire. The combination of the seasearch information, and the data from the questionnaire will provide a compelling perspective of why certain sites are valued above others by different sectors of the general public.

The questionnaire is divided into 5 sections, of which only one is mandatory. Completing the whole form may take between 10 and 15 minutes, but filling in the single mandatory section will take about 1 minute.

Section 1 (optional): Your personal details
Section 2 (optional): Your user group – describe up to five ways you interact with the marine environment.
Section 3 (mandatory): Site location – information on the location of the site.
Section 4 (optional): Why do you want the site to receive protection?
Section 5 (optional): What should the site provide protection from?

Please help us to understand better which sites should be considered for protection by filling in the questionnaire – your information is valuable to us. Any problems with the questionnaire, please contact jean-luc.solandt@mcsuk.org.
