Observing leatherbacks and jellyfish in Carmarthen Bay: The University of Wales Swansea is a member of the Turtle Implementation Group (TIG) and is one of the few academic institutions carrying out research into the ecology of marine turtles in UK waters. In 2004 MCS funded their research into leatherback turtle and jellyfish interactions in the Irish Sea. Principal Investigator Professor Graeme Hays chartered a research boat to survey jellyfish distribution in Carmarthen Bay and locate foraging leatherbacks to observe their behaviour, in conjunction with the University's aerial surveys.
