UPDATE 30.08.07: Zahra nested again at Rekawa on the 28.07.08 (4th recorded nest this season). She then went back to her internesting site at Ussangoda. We received her last transmission on the 25.08.07 from Ussangoda, meaning that she stayed there for at least almost a month. Ussangoda is probably her resident foraging ground.

Zahra was the second turtle to be satellite tagged in 2007 and the 8th turtle to be satellite tagged in Sri Lanka. We do not know how many clutches of eggs she had laid during the 2007 season before she was tagged. She is part of the Saving Planet Earth Green Turtle Race and is the smallest of the turtles featured in the competition. Zahra was named after Zahra D'Aronville, an aquarist at the Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth who inspired her colleagues to raise enough funds to cover the costs of this tag.
