UPDATE 19.11.07: Lokki last nested at Rekawa on 31.08.07, probably her sixth nest of the season. She then migrated to the foraging ground of Sayuri-Emerald off Shirali on the Karnataka coast, India on the 29.09.07. There she stayed, suggesting this is also her foraging ground, until he tag ceased transmitting in November!

Lokki was the third turtle to be satellite tagged in 2007 and the 9th turtle to be satellite tagged in Sri Lanka. We do not know how many clutches of eggs she had laid during the 2007 season before she was tagged. She is part of the Saving Planet Earth Green Turtle Race and is the largest and strongest of the turtles featured in the competition. She was very hard to restrain during tagging, and broke our restraint box in several places. Lokki is an affectionate name for a big, fat woman in Sinhala, the first language in Sri Lanka. This tag was funded by the Marine Conservation Society (MCS).
