After migrating up the coast of western India, Sayuri-Emerald reached an area off the Karnataka coast close to Shirali in the Uttar Kanada district in mid-November 2006. She remained there for approximately one month before her tag failed, suggesting that she had arrived at her foraging grounds. While there is some artisanal fishing off that stretch of coastline, little is known about marine turtle bycatch or foraging grounds located there.
