MCS has produced an annual report of public sightings of basking sharks from 2005. We report on:

1. The number of reports (and compare 2005 to the entire database).
2. The distribution of the reports.
3. The distribution of sharks in Scottish and Southwest waters.
4. The regional percentages of reports from around the UK.
5. The change in proportion of reports from Scotland and the Southwest.
6. Shoal sizes.
7. Breaching.
8. Strandings.
