The Marine Conservation Society has been the voice for UK seas for 30 years; championing sustainable fisheries, clean seas and beaches and protection for marine wildlife.
Over the past five years, MCS has grown significantly as a result of investing in its fundraising team, and a fast growing political and public interest in marine issues. We are considered by many to punch well above our weight, with an excellent reputation for raising awareness about marine issues, and effecting meaningful change via our work with communities for marine reserves, consumers and supermarkets for sustainable seafood, and volunteers for action against litter.
To address the challenges that our seas face now and in the future, MCS aims to promote positive environmental change and gain public support on a much wider scale, through effective marketing, compelling communications, and influential campaigning.
MCS is looking for an exceptional individual to lead our marketing, communications and campaigns team, to champion the MCS brand and lead delivery of strategies that generate public support and income.
Through development and delivery of a comprehensive and integrated branding, marketing and communications strategy the Head of Marketing and Communications will:
• Increase MCS supporter and membership base and income
• Increase stakeholder recognition of MCS brand
• Increase MCS media profile and impact
• Increase public involvement in MCS conservation campaigns
The post holder will sit on the Senior Management Team reporting directly to the Chief Executive and support MCS' organisational development. The role will deliver marketing and communications strategies through a team of 3 direct reports and 9 indirect reports.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced marketing and communications professional with a proven track record of expanding supporter bases and increasing income from individual giving. We are looking for a strong team-oriented leader, with excellent organisational, management and communication skills, and an instinctive feel for marketing and communications that motivates action and generates income in support of marine conservation.
Working for MCS comes with a number of benefits including employer contributions to a stakeholder pension scheme, free parking, occupational sick pay and a generous annual leave entitlement. To make your application, please use the links below to download the job description and application form.
