The Cool Seas Roadshow was officially launched on Saturday 12th August, 2006, at Blackpool Sands beach, in Devon.  MCS organised a fun-packed day, full of shows and activities, to raise awareness of our wonderful marine wildlife, the threats facing it and the work that MCS does to protect it.

The inflatable basking shark, minke whale and leatherback turtle were undoubtably the main attractions - with many beach-goers astonished by their true size!  Others had no idea that we have such exciting creatures in our very own seas, and were motivated to adopt-a-turtle on the spot!

Throughout the day, Seasearch divers surveyed the seas below the beach, attracting curiosity as they continued to emerge from the depths!

A guided rockpool ramble attracted a huge crowd in the afternoon, and the ‘pollution-penguin' puppet show provided plenty of laughs while highlighting the serious problems our litter causes for marine wildlife.

MCS would like to thank our chairman, Sir Geoffrey Newman, Paignton Zoo and Living Coasts, as well as Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust for their fantastic support in making the day such a success.
